CIVIL CONSTRUCTION

Civil construction is an important sector of our economy. If this sector grows in Brazil, our country’s capacity of production and development also grows.

IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) divides the construction industry into three sectors: (a) construction of buildings (“Buildings”);
(b) infrastructure works (“Heavy Construction”); and
(c) services that serve the other two sectors.

Thus, it can be concluded that the main division is between the Buildings and Heavy Construction sectors.

It is a very dynamic and highly competitive industry. The cycle of development of a project is long, which requires high initial investment with returns in the medium and long term.

The high investments require increased productivity in order to be increasingly competitive. Thus, participants in this market constantly face risks and challenges.

Market conditions can change rapidly, forcing participants to adapt to a new reality. This implies pursuing innovation and technology in order to establish business environments that are always favorable, through differentiated structured planning.

This industry covers companies with different corporate purposes (e.g. developers of slabs, sheds, residential buildings, shopping malls, builders, heavy construction contractors, etc.) that carry out a wide range of commercial activities, from the purchase of land and the development of real estate projects, with own or third parties’ (bank or investors) capital through the sale of their real estate assets, to landowners and managers of their own real estate, among others.

Real estate transactions can be complicated and their participants have to be prepared to address all engineering, legal or law, commercial or business (economic viability) issues, always projecting this over the course of the development of the real estate project.

Ideally, the parties involved in the negotiation should be focused on the business itself and supported by partners in the provision of legal and technical engineering services in order to comply with all laws and regulations applicable to the market.

Our team has over 15 years of experience helping the development of this industry. We are constantly updating ourselves on what is happening in Civil Construction in Brazil and in the world so as to use the most appropriate Legal instruments to assist our clients in order to make the whole thing happen.
